# Translate video subtitles into 110+ languages

SubLunio turns spoken dialogue into translated subtitles with 118 output options, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Indonesian. Choose a local video and target language, preview the translation, then export SRT, VTT or ASS after full generation. No existing subtitle file is needed.

## Popular subtitle translation languages

Translate video dialogue into English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Spanish and other supported languages. The choices below are subtitle output languages: select the text you want to read, independently of the spoken audio. Each entry includes its English and native names to help you find the matching option in the generator.

- English subtitles / English (en)

- Simplified Chinese subtitles / Simplified Chinese / 简体中文 (zh-Hans)

- Traditional Chinese subtitles / Traditional Chinese / 繁體中文 (zh-Hant)

## Start with the dialogue in your video

Choose a supported local video or audio file in the workspace above. SubLunio extracts audio on your device, uploads the extracted audio for speech recognition and translates the resulting timed dialogue. Your original video stays on your device. The translated lines follow the source timeline, so you can use the downloaded subtitle file with the same video.

Listen to the chosen audio track before starting. An original Japanese soundtrack and an English dub may use different names or phrasing. Select the version you intend to hear, especially when a file also contains commentary or alternative soundtracks. The translation follows the selected dialogue.

## Choose the spoken language and subtitle target separately

The source language describes the speech. Auto detects it, or you can choose a known language from the 100 supported recognition languages. The target setting selects the translated text from 118 output options. A language appearing in the output directory does not automatically mean audio in that language is supported for recognition.

For Japanese audio with English subtitles, select Japanese as the source and English as the target. For English audio with Indonesian subtitles, select English and Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia). To translate English into Chinese, select English as the source and either Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese as the target. The website interface language is a separate setting.

## Guide names and terminology with a glossary

Before generating, add recurring names or specialist terms to the glossary, with one term and preferred translation per line. A focused list is useful for character names, course abbreviations or product terminology that needs consistent wording. Use terms that actually occur in the selected recording and avoid conflicting entries.

A glossary guides translation but cannot guarantee every use. If a source word is recognized incorrectly, the intended term may not be matched. Check important names when they first appear and confirm that the preferred wording reads naturally in the target language.

## Preview the translation in context

The free web preview covers up to 5 minutes continuously from the first subtitle, limited by the remaining video duration. You can begin as a guest. Watch the scene while reading the translated text to check meaning, timing and names; short answers, jokes and idioms often depend on context.

Bilingual display puts the recognized original beside the translation. If the original line is wrong, check recognition and the selected audio track. If the original is accurate but the translation changes its meaning, review the translated wording. After full generation, downloaded subtitle files can be edited in your preferred subtitle editor.

## Understand the cost of each target language

Full transcription and translation cost USD $1 per hour of the entire video, rounded up to a cent. A 90-minute video costs $1.50 for one target-language task. Preview work is reused when you continue the same task, but preview minutes are included in the full billable duration. Account credit is shared between the website and desktop app.

On desktop, selecting multiple targets creates a separate task for each language. English and Spanish versions of the same 90-minute video therefore represent two $1.50 tasks before any duration settlement. The queue displays the combined estimate and temporary reservation before processing.

## Export translated or bilingual subtitles

Once generation is complete, download the translation, original text or bilingual version in SRT, VTT or ASS. SRT is a practical starting point for local playback. Use VTT when your web player requires WebVTT, or ASS for styled bilingual subtitles in a compatible application. Test the selected font when the output uses different writing systems.

Review several passages against the matching video edition before delivery. Check names, cultural references and technical statements as well as timing. Keep the target language clear in your file naming so that translated versions remain easy to identify when you share or archive them.

## All 118 subtitle output options

Search this directory by English name, native name or language code, then choose the matching target in the subtitle form. The list follows SubLunio’s output language selector. Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) and Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant) are separate options, so you can choose the writing system your audience reads.

For example, Indonesian is listed as Bahasa Indonesia with code id, Japanese as 日本語 with code ja, and English with code en. These entries describe available output choices. Translation quality still depends on the recognized dialogue, context and recording quality; check the preview for the actual video you want to translate.

## Do I need an existing subtitle file to translate my video?

No. This workflow starts with a local video or supported audio file, recognizes its speech and translates the timed dialogue. Choose your media file to create new translated subtitles.

## Can I translate Japanese video dialogue into English subtitles?

Yes. Select the Japanese dialogue track, choose Japanese as the source and English as the subtitle target. Check the preview, then complete generation to download translated or bilingual subtitles.

## Can I translate English videos into Indonesian subtitles?

Yes. Select English as the spoken language and Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia, code id) as the subtitle target. Indonesian is also supported as a speech recognition language for videos whose dialogue is Indonesian.

## Can translated Chinese subtitles use Simplified or Traditional characters?

Yes. Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) and Traditional Chinese (zh-Hant) are separate subtitle output options. Choose the writing system you need independently of the source audio language.

## Does support for 110+ subtitle languages include the same number of speech languages?

No. SubLunio offers 118 subtitle output options and a separate list of 100 speech recognition languages. Check the source list for the audio and the output list for the translation.

## Can I download both the original dialogue and its translation?

Yes. Completed tasks provide original, translated and bilingual versions in SRT, VTT and ASS. Each selected target language is a separate translation task.
