## WebM is a container used in many web recording workflows

A WebM may come from a browser recorder, meeting tool or media export. Its audio and video streams can use different codecs, and a .webm extension does not prove that the recording finished cleanly. Select the actual downloaded media file rather than a browser page or a link that requires access to another service.

SubLunio extracts the sound locally, so you do not have to publish the recording first. For a meeting or private conversation, ensure you have permission to process the participants’ speech. The fact that a browser created the file does not change those consent and confidentiality considerations.

## Opus audio needs timing-aware conversion

Opus is common in web audio workflows and can preserve speech efficiently at modest file sizes. Converting it for transcription still requires handling its timing correctly, including initial decoder delay and the relationship to the video stream. Simply concatenating decoded packets can produce a subtitle offset even when the words sound clear.

The media pipeline uses the source timeline when writing the MP3 processing copy. You should still check a spoken line after any long pause or recording interruption. A browser recorder that was suspended or stopped unexpectedly may have a different problem from an ordinary clean WebM export.

## Recordings without a complete duration need inspection

Some browser-created media reports duration differently from a finalized editing export. SubLunio inspects the actual file rather than trusting a filename or manually entered running time. If the input cannot be read to a valid end, obtain a complete source or finalize it through the tool that created it.

Avoid changing the recording while it is being processed. Wait for the recorder to finish and save the file before selecting it. For a long meeting, keep enough temporary storage for the extracted audio and leave the tab open during local work. A network reconnection cannot replace a local file that was never saved completely.

## WebM test evidence focuses on VP9 with Opus

Our original WebM fixture pairs VP9 video with Opus audio and places two tones at known points in a twelve-second timeline. Chromium and Firefox passed extraction, MP3 reinspection and decoded timing checks. This provides direct evidence for the specific path listed in the report.

It does not guarantee every browser-recorder edge case or certify recognition quality for meetings. Overlapping participants, distant microphones and background music remain important. Evaluate those features in your actual preview. If the picture plays but a voice is absent, first check whether the recording contains that participant’s audio rather than assuming a translation setting is responsible.

## Choose a language, then evaluate a preview

Select the file above, choose its speaking track and pick the language you want to read. SubLunio offers 110+ subtitle target languages. Source speech recognition has a separate supported list and defaults to Auto; setting the interface language does not limit your target choice. A brief listen can prevent a commentary or alternate dub from becoming the source of an otherwise well-timed translation.

The free web preview starts at the first subtitle and covers up to 5 continuous minutes. Compare the text with a clear line and a more difficult passage. You can start without an account, then sign in to retain the same valid task and continue with the audio already uploaded. A concise glossary can guide recurring names or specialist terms.

## Continue and save a portable subtitle

Full generation is priced at USD $1 per hour of the entire video, rounded up to a cent. The preview portion is included in that full duration. Use account credit or pay for the task; card payments have a $1.00 minimum and unused credit remains available. The price is based on duration rather than the original video file size.

Download SRT, VTT or ASS, choosing translated, original or bilingual text. Keep the subtitle beside the exact source edition and test dialogue at several points. The video stays local throughout extraction; server audio is temporary. Save your own subtitle copy and process only material you have the necessary rights to use. Automatic results still need review for names, meaning and timing.

Actual WEBM extraction check: opus audio → MP3. Synthetic tones; this does not measure transcription quality.

## Should I select a WebM while my browser recorder is still running?

Wait until recording has stopped and the file has been saved completely.

## Does the WebM test cover Opus audio?

Yes. The synthetic fixture pairs VP9 video with Opus audio and verifies output timing.

## Can a missing meeting participant’s sound be restored from the WebM picture?

No. Recognition needs the participant’s audible speech in the chosen audio stream.

## Why check a WebM after a recording interruption?

Suspension or interruption can create timing or completeness problems not visible in an ordinary opening segment.
