Use a small text file alongside your existing video
An SRT subtitle contains numbered cues, start and end timestamps, and the words to display. It does not contain the video itself. This separation makes it practical to keep several language versions, correct a line or share a subtitle with someone who already has the matching recording. Your original movie remains unchanged when SubLunio generates or downloads the text.
Compatibility is one of the main reasons to start with SRT, but the receiving application still matters. A local player, television, editor or publishing platform may interpret formatting differently. Try a short result in the actual destination before preparing a large delivery. SRT is a useful common format, not a guarantee that every device will load every file automatically.
Create the timing from the selected audio
Choose your video in the workspace and inspect the audio choices. SubLunio extracts the selected track locally into a compressed MP3, then sends that audio for recognition and translation. The source file can be larger than 2 GB because it is read in portions instead of being copied entirely into browser memory. Keep enough local storage available for the prepared audio.
If a recording contains original dialogue and a dubbed version, select the track you plan to hear. The subtitle timing follows that source. Videos with an added introduction or a different edit should be treated as separate versions rather than assumed to share a time axis. Choosing the exact file now avoids a later mismatch that a filename change cannot repair.
Choose a subtitle language and inspect the first result
The target menu offers 110+ subtitle languages. Source recognition has a separate list and defaults to Auto. For an English SRT from a Korean recording, select English as the target while leaving detection automatic or setting Korean as the known source language. You can also request bilingual output when you want to see the transcribed source beside the translation.
Generate a web preview before deciding whether to continue. The preview begins with the first subtitle and covers a continuous window of up to 5 minutes. Listen for names and check the relationship between the displayed words and the speech. A small glossary can guide preferred terminology, but the final text still benefits from a review of unclear or consequential passages.
Download the right variant for the recipient
Once the task is complete, choose SRT in the download controls. Translation only contains the target-language text, original only contains the recognized speech, and bilingual output combines both. Choose the line order for the bilingual version according to what your reader should encounter first. Equivalent source and target languages do not need duplicate lines.
The downloaded file uses UTF-8 text. If an older application requires a byte order mark, use the BOM download option and test the result there. That setting concerns text encoding, not the language or accuracy of the subtitle. A suitable font is still necessary for scripts the application does not display correctly, even when the underlying text is encoded properly.
Check cue readability as well as word accuracy
A useful SRT is more than a transcript with occasional timestamps. Viewers need enough time to read each cue while following the scene. SubLunio normalizes timing and splits longer lines into manageable cues. Rapid conversation, complex translation and bilingual output can still create a demanding reading pace, so preview representative sections on the screen size your audience will use.
When editing a downloaded file, preserve the cue structure and timestamp syntax. Keep a copy of the generated original before making changes. An accidental blank line or malformed timestamp can affect how an application reads the file. If you need more deliberate styling than the player provides for SRT, consider the ASS download instead of packing unsupported styling markup into plain subtitle text.
Finish the video and keep a reusable record
Full SRT generation uses the same duration-based price as the other supported downloads: USD $1 per hour of the entire video, rounded up to the next cent. The free preview is reused when you continue the task. Downloading SRT and then another format from that completed task does not require another audio upload or a second generation of the same target language.
Sign in to retain subtitle records and find completed tasks later. Keep a local copy beside the correct video, with a recognizable language suffix when you store several versions. The account stores subtitle work rather than the original video. Before publication, confirm your rights to distribute the recording and review names, important claims and any accessibility information the audience needs.
A few things worth knowing
What is actually inside the SRT download?
Numbered text cues with start and end timestamps. It contains neither your video nor an audio recording.
Can I download another format after choosing SRT?
Yes. The completed task also provides VTT and ASS without another upload for that same target-language task.
Should I turn on BOM for every SRT file?
Use it when the receiving application needs a UTF-8 byte order mark. Check the intended player rather than assuming one setting fits all software.
Does SRT preserve elaborate bilingual styling?
Rendering depends on the player. Use ASS in a compatible application when you need more deliberate original and translated text styling.
